RAMP: conference on scaling systems

RAMP is a two day international tech conference on scalability, to be held in Budapest, Hungary on 11-12 July 2013.

Building Minimal Viable Products (MVPs) often falters when you need to actually scale the MVPs. But over-engineering the first version can kill the company. So then what? RAMP will feature stories from engineers and tech founders about the race against exploding traffic, architectures that didn’t cut it, and all that goes into scaling systems and engineering teams when a product goes from 1 to 100m users.

This conference is for the deeply technical—those in the trenches of scaling systems who handle this kind of exponential growth.

We want to help companies who just started having scaling issues. We don't want to talk about how Google or Facebook scale their systems today, but rather what they did in their first three years. We want to talk about architectures, infrastructure patterns that work and those that don't, as well as scaling the engineering team itself. We want people to share what worked for them and what didn't. We expect an audience interested in intense technical topics alongside social solutions to the growing pains that come with an accelerating user base.

We'll learn from each other—both what we've done well and how we've screwed up. The goal is to showcase best practices, warn against potential pitfalls, and learn how to start building systems that will be easy to scale from the beginning.

RAMP will take place from July 11-12th, with speakers from companies like Dropbox, OmniTI, Yahoo.
